Future of Incentives Remains Unclear
Launched as a continuation of the Transizione 4.0, the Transizione 5.0 program aims to support Italian companies in their digitalization and energy-saving initiatives. With tax credits of up to 45% on eligible investments, it represents one of the country’s most significant industrial support schemes.
Current status (June 2025)
The program is currently set to expire on December 31, 2025. Despite growing calls from business associations and consultants to extend it, the Italian government has yet to release an official statement. This uncertainty is delaying investment decisions across multiple sectors.
Key program features:
- Incentive level: up to 45% tax credit
- Eligible investments: digitalization, automation, energy efficiency
- Requirements: measurable energy savings certified through technical analysis
- Compatibility with other aid: possible if no overlapping cost coverage
Outlook:
A possible extension or new funding program could be included in the Autumn Budget 2025. Companies are advised to begin preparing now—by planning investments and commissioning energy audits—to ensure readiness if and when incentives are confirmed.
- Valid through 31 December 2025
- Up to 45% tax credit
- Eligible only with proven energy savings
- No official extension yet
- Planning ahead is essential
